Moss Mansion is at 914 Division Street in downtown Billings. The Western Heritage Center and Yellowstone Art Museum are also among the city’s cultural destinations. If you’re choosing based on how the visit is structured, compare Moss Mansion’s tour options with the art museum’s set opening days.

The Yellowstone Art Museum is about a 10-minute drive from WoodSpring Suites, which offers guest rooms. The practical details below can help you decide which stop to plan around.

Moss Mansion Museum

Moss Mansion Museum

Moss Mansion Museum offers standard tours from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. every day except Tuesday, with guided tours at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Standard admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and veterans, and $10 for students ages 6–18; children age 5 and under enter free. Admission through Museums for All is $3 with qualifying ID. Guided tours cost $18 per person.

For a private tour or a group tour of 10 or more, email tours@mossmansion.com at least three days in advance. Bookings depend on availability. Parking is available along Yellowstone or Clark Avenues and at a lot on the corner of 3rd Avenue North and 34th Street.

Don’t park on Division Street or in the Moss driveway. If the driveway is unoccupied, it can be used for guest drop-off; enter at the building’s west end through the basement gift shop.

Western Heritage Center

Western Heritage Center

The Western Heritage Center is one of the three museums to consider in Billings.

You can weigh it alongside the other two options: Moss Mansion has scheduled house tours, while the Yellowstone Art Museum publishes its weekly hours and admission prices. The Western Heritage Center visitor guide is focused on planning a visit to this museum.

Yellowstone Art Museum

Yellowstone Art Museum

The Yellowstone Art Museum is open Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; it is closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Special First Friday hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Yellowstone County residents receive free admission. For visitors from outside the county, admission is $8 for adults and $6 for seniors; it is free for everyone age 18 or under and guests with a student ID.

Free visitor parking is on the east side of the campus, with access from North 27th Street or North 26th Street. Overnight parking is not permitted. The building is ADA-compliant and fully accessible, and a limited number of wheelchairs are available at the admissions desk.

Food and beverages aren’t allowed in the galleries. Personal, noncommercial photography is encouraged, but flash, tripods and selfie sticks aren’t allowed. For more planning detail, the Yellowstone Art Museum visitor guide focuses on practical visit information.

Planning a museum day from the hotel

For a museum day, start by checking the opening pattern of the venue you most want to visit, then use that to decide whether another stop fits. Moss Mansion is closed on Tuesdays, and the Yellowstone Art Museum is closed Sunday through Tuesday; their schedules therefore overlap Wednesday through Saturday.

Admission and tour arrangements differ, so check the details for each museum before setting out. Moss Mansion requests advance email for private and larger group tours, while the Yellowstone Art Museum has free parking for visitors on campus.

Before you go: Hours, admission and booking details can change, so check the official site before you go.
